I think what it really goes to show is that most respected members of the mining establishment are fearfull of having their reputations sullied by any association with the DDs. Hence, they hem and haw and give themselves plenty of leeway when explaining those associations in any public forum/statements.
The DDS will eventually make it or not make it based on their own individual accomplishments. In the meantime they are afforded little or no respect by everyone else.
