What a joke on Marla Maples Trump. She married a billionaire*, she believed, in Dec. 1993 only to have him declare insolvency to the IRS two years later.
* The couple were married in December 1993 at New York City's Plaza Hotel, in a ceremony attended by 1,000 guests, including Rosie O'Donnell and O.J. Simpson. [8] They separated in May 1997 [9] and divorced in 1999. [10]
IOW roughly one year after signing that return stating her new billionaire husband was actually insolvent, she was gone, though it seems they haggled over the divorce settlement for a couple years.
Marla wrote a tell all book about Donald, entitled ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD.
After the divorce was finalized, Maples announced that her memoir, All That Glitters Is Not Gold, was being published by the ReganBooks division of HarperCollins Publishers. But in 2002, HarperCollins said “The author and publisher by mutual consent have agreed not to publish the book.” Asked for a comment at the time, Trump told the New York Times that he was “not unhappy” about the cancellation. When asked if he had anything to do with the cancellation, Trump said, “I can’t comment on that.”
How much would that book have made Marla? That much and more is what he would have had to pay to bury the book. By then Daddy Trump had died and Donald had cash again. |
