"How about Republican, Democrat, Green or write in?" The only reason it is a Blue state is that a majority of the electorate in your state vote and traditionally Democrat. If enough like you changed their vote to another party it would first become a swing state. Then over a number of successive elections the State continually elected a Green by overwhelming majority. The color would change. By voting for any candidate on the ballot. You as a citizen have been granted your right to exercise your right to be heard. The Constitution when drafted provided: "No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States." Also included, the President & Vice President cannot be from the same state. In order to thwart any attempt by person or organization with an agenda attempting a take over from the top of the political spectrum. In order to reinforce it could not happen. It was declared that the Congress be granted the sole responsibility of creating laws. The President may request a law be brought forth but it must be done by Congress. A write in on the ballot would require a change of the constitution as there is no provision for one as it stands. The US constitution was drafted at a time of separation from British rule. It was not drafted with political party agenda in mind. But rather from the view point of how do we protect this new territory they had acquired from destruction, dictatorship or coo attempt from those abroad or within who may wish to harm. As I have said before The US constitution is one of the Worlds exemplary living documents in protecting the rights of the people. It has stood the test of time and built one of the world's most successful civilizations. The electorate should be extremely cautious of those who wish to implement changes without referenda. They may end up a lot more restricted and worse off when the fine print of those modifications are interpreted.
