Hmm.. I don't agree with that analogy. It's too easy to switch from Pac Bell (GSM) to Airtouch (CDMA) For what this saved me in monthly charges, I'll gladly shell out $150 for a new phone.

Between IBM and Macintosh, the IBM clones were close to a thousand dollars cheaper. It just isn't the same; abandoning a $200 phone or abandoning a $3500 computer system.

I am not going to argue which phone is ultimately cheaper. Your local providers already know that answer and will be forced to price accordingly to call capacity.
