Hello Peter,

I hear what you are saying but I do not agree... If you are trading strong trending stocks then you build a system to suit strong trending stocks and fill your database with strong trending stocks. If I'm never going to trade big caps I could care less how they test out and would not waste my disk space filling my database with them.

The only real test of a system is if it makes money. With that being the case I only concern myself with the type of stocks I'm trading and leave the others to the academics....

I know I'm not saying it the right way but it works. I've heard many people say that a system has to work with all types of stocks in all types of Markets. I say Bull to that!!!! I'm not trading all types of Stocks in all types of Markets. I'm trading RS & EPS above 80 in THIS type of market so that's all I'm concerned with. Why do I care how the utilities will test out with my system if I'm not trading them???

The trick is to make money, not score points...

Does this make sense??

On the short side I have not seen a system that scores well yet. I agree with you that most of the systems we use or hear about on these Boards do not perform well on the short side of the market. Probably because they were created with the long side of the Market in mind and strong stocks to run against.

I know Andy and I talked about spending some time trying to develop a short side system but then the Market changed and we changed with it. At some point I believe we will have to spend the time necessary to develop a short side system but so far it's not a great priority...
