Russians Warned Nuke War 'Imminent'...

That should be an eye opener.

We all know about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Few Americans know or remember the 1st nuclear weapon was detonated (tested) in the USA, in New Mexico, and the weapon was named Trinity. It was so successful, future tests were moved off shore. The 2nd and 3rd nukes we detonated were in Japan. I doubt the next one detonated here will be a test

The mere threat of nuclear war is unnerving.
Yet most American civilians no longer train for such an eventuality.

The mere mention of using nukes is a significant threat in my mind. The Soviets warning their own people to prepare for a nuke strike is a serious escalation. My guess is (and it is a guess) they are more concerned about the 160 nukes Pakistan has, than weapons owned by the USA.

This would be a good time to dust off a "One Minute Fallout Zone Calculator" and review how to use it. Indeed it is always a good time to review your complete family survival plan, and inspect your family's supplies.

Here is an example of the kind of questions I like to ask myself.

We have a 6 month supply of freeze-dried and canned food. That is great but what do we do on the 181st day?

8 years ago that question led us to buy a home in the country, on a lake and stream, establish a fairly large (and expandable) garden with fruit trees and berry bushes, and accumulate canning supplies.
