Been thinking about that for a long long time...

KastelCo Saturday, 03/06/04 11:28:48 AM Re: Frank Pembleton post# 8141 Post # of 19037 M... what we see now is nothing compared to what we will see 5 years from now. Good God, man! We've gone parabolic!! I agree completely with that part.. but I guess we see different results... There was a vast untapped market for the US and west before... not so now...They need to share the market and that's why they need to share the wealth ..with other folks that can compete... Actually they (US/Canada) don't have a choice. Do it or be left behind eventually. Keep thinking parabolic man... and where exactly that mule sits on the curve VBG... My bet ... those jobs never come back... or we get a gut wrenching societal change.. We simply won't need as many people... just what are they all gonna do ? I'm betting on the gut wrenching change because that's what will be best for man.. and man always does what's best for man in the long run.. or we'd be long gone.. You should be embracing change Now don't misconstrue here... It isn't gonna be the end of the world... and especially not mine ;o) I see an opportunity... it's adapt or die time coming like those other times... jobs for life are disappearing even in our government... imagine that... I'm not saying any of this is bad.. I think energy issues will be resolved... but I think a sea change in thinking is coming in our lifetime and that's what I'm talking about being interesting.. I only worry about the future in the sense of making sure I'm on the right side of the trade :o) There's always gonna be a trade for a billion years or so... And yes we keep needing to make adjustments but as you say parabolic... so the rate of change is accelerating and the necessary adjustments will need to be correspondingly rapid and large... I said interesting remember not dismal..
I actually have a ton of posts like this... finding them is not so easy LOL
