Ken: FWIW you are correct about Dec 31 being the last day. It's thornier for short covering though I have yet to hear a definitive answer. I have not been audited (knock on wood) and my numbers never match because of shorts. I guess if someone looks at mine and sees the short sales they asssume I've got some outstanding.
