Penni:

Who is Pamela Anderson? I do know who Tom Cruise is, but don't recall seeing him in anything in a long time. Not much time for the movies, and I refuse to see those exploding buildings, car chases, etc. I prefer movies with some character development and plot. I can do without the special effects -- spectacular for a few minutes, then ho-hum. Is there a film thread on SI?

Sorry, but HAR-ess will always sound a bit affected to me, but only because the first time I heard it that way was with the politicians, not my favorite group. I'm not saying it is affected, just my initial impression lingering.

Treason quote: Your interpretation is as valid as any, and you have set it up properly with subjuctive use for the uncertain or fantasized clause, and then what would happen in the next clause if the condition in the subjunctive one were to come true. I do think none is grammatically a plural there, though, despite what I have thought heretofore.
