Meathead,

DELL, even for a company its size, has limited resources. IMO, that is one reason their expansion program is running wide open here in Austin. Their phenomenal growth has made it a challenge merely to meet the demand for their existing products.

I do not see them entering the sub-zero market until one of two things happens: 1) they position themselves to comfortably meet projected demand for existing product; or 2) Growth of demand for their existing product slows, allowing them to divert resources to the low-end area.

To enter the low end, they require additional capacity. It would be absurd to divert current resources from a proven product and demand to that end. I have faith that the company is addressing these issues. When we had the Nov tour, one of the problems our guide mentioned was the difficulty in finding adequate numbers of qualified personnel. We know that Michael got burned once by going into something without being fully prepared. He is not going into that market until he's ready. When they do enter that market, watch out!
