While I agree that the analysts are slow to incorporate new figures, it should be noted that if Micron Tech. spends $700 million, it would actually be an increase over fiscal '97 (which ended Aug 31). In the 10K they show property/plant/equipment purchases as:
'97 $517 million
'96 $1,525 million
'95 $852 million

The point here is that although I expect equipment purchases to remain depressed compared to where they 'could have been', equipment purchases were pretty pathetic last year. Therefore, on a YOY basis it would be hard to be worse than last year.
