Skane, Happy New Year, my friend....here's the post from Yahoo....and it is a good one!
Trust me...we do not want this thread to attract some of the things going on on other threads...as has been witnessed by the brief visits from Pierre. If you think he's arrogant to think we talk about him on this thread, imagine how arrogant he must be on the other thread. I'm sorry but I still have to laugh about Pierre...I mean, we're talking about a woman on another thread making comments, Nanny comments about the post, nysebob2 comments on Nanny's post, Skane comments on Nanny's post to nysebob2 and some weeks later Pierre shows up and tells us to stop talking about him. Can you believe this guy!! I mean, don't we have anything else to do....
Go figure.....
Oops, maybe shouldn't mention his name or he'll show up for sure.....
Back to the business of Sunrise..... Message 14 of 29 Subj: request for additional information re:SNRS By: BCLMD293 Date: Dec 8 1997 5:30 P.M PST Reply To: Msg. 11 by Nubious Dear Nubious RE: SNRS I am an ophthalmologist...watching Sunrise with great interest. Although I would agree that Sunrise will not ever put companies like VISX or Summit Technology out of business...and I agree that Excimer laser is the most "versatile" and "powerfull" form of laser vision correction at this time (a procedure which I personally do)...and will be for the forseeable future...but I also must say that Sunrise has a great potential for those patients with low hyperopia and with presbyopia.
In my opinion Excimer laser is more suited for myopia and astigmatism than it is for hyperopia...although, as part of the new "LASIK" technique...it may very well prove to be an excellent way to treat hyperopia as well...and therefore...possibly also for patients with presbyopia as well...especially if they were willing to have a condition called "Monovision"...in which one eye is basically in made mildly near sighted (myopic) intentionally, and the other eye is made to be in focus at distance. This is a very popular way to fit contact lenses for those patients who do not wish to wear glasses at anytime ...even when they would otherwise need spectacle correction for both distance and for near (ie. probably a bifocal).
It would seem to me that for patients with low degrees of hyperopia...if the current data holds for longer periods of time, which I believe it will...that this procedure is simpler, and safer, and will probably be adequate for large numbers of patients...potentially, at any rate.
FYI...I have no financial interest in this company except that I know one of the investigators...and I have purchased a small amount of the stock...unfortunately very recently at $4.80 per share!...after the FDA approval for addional studies on presbyopia. :-(
I would be curious...are you in the medical field or in the investment field?
I thought your comments were excellent! But, it seems to me that if this procedure gets approved by the FDA...which I think it will be (because I can see absolutely no reason for them to deny it)...that this stock could do extremely well???
Some people believe that just the patent fees (perhaps $100 per procedure...per eye!)...similar to the "Pillar Point" patent fees for the excimer laser...would make this stock worth over $20/share...based on estimates of the numbers of patients likely to have this procedure...if it is approved.
Do you disagree with me? ...or are you just saying that there is no rush to buy this stock...because of the expected delay in the FDA approval process?
BCLMD ..I would appreciate your response. Thanks!
