Wow, this tells a story. I'm looking at the booklet the Texas Conservative Review sent the other day. I posted about it yesterday in terms of how it only mentioned Trump on the sample ballot page.
I went back and read the introduction where there's a paragraph about the Presidential race. Here it is:
2016 SELECT GENERAL ELECTION ENDORSEMENTS
by Gary Polland, Editor-In-Chief
Just about everything imaginable - the good, the bad and the extremely ugly - has been said about this year's Presidential election and its contestants. So much so in fact, that many voters from both sides are tempted to boycott the contest altogether. For those who have decided to sit out the main event, the message should be to vote everything else, because the down ballot races are where their (and your) vote really counts. In 2012 (the last comparable election cycle), some conservative candidates lost their races by as few as 700 votes out of over 1 million cast, which proves that every vote really does count. Regardless of your feelings about the top of the ticket, voting down ballot is essential.
The sentence bolded above is bolded in the pamphlet and the sentence is reproduced in bold letters in the center of the page.
After that it goes on with paragraphs about Congressional races, state rep races, board of education , district courts, and on and on for 10 pages. All the endorsed candidates names are bolded and there are many pictures.
This shows it's NOT just me, folks. Donald Trump has a big problem with Texas conservatives! I still think he'll carry TX though. |
