Voting for a candidate this bad just encourages the GOPe to think they own all our votes and we'll accept whoever they say vote for. Whatever Trump is, he isn't a creature of the GOP establishment. If he was that would be a decent argument. If a Republican can't carry TX w/o my vote, he's not going to win anywhere. Agreed. Well maybe not literally anywhere. TX is only the most Republican very large state, not the most Republican state. Still if a Republican cant' win Texas he or she has to be unpopular enough on the national level to not have a chance. Real Clear Politics average of recent polls has Trump up only 4.7 percent in Texas. He'll probably win it, but Romney won by almost 16 points, Bush beat Kerry by almost 23%, and Reagan beat Mondale by 27.5%. That's isn't to suggest that Trump will do that much worse than any of them nationwide. Texas, while still solidly Republican, is perhaps a bit less Republican than it used to be with the growing number of Hispanic/Latino votes. Also I was picking relative high points for Republicans in Texas. Dole only beat Bill by about as much as Trump leads Hillary. Plus once people decide they are voting for Trump, they seem to think they have to defend EVERYTHING That's certainly not me. (And not just because I'm not sure I'll vote for Trump yet, it wouldn't be the case in general including for people I'd support much more than I support Trump. Good people defending him over everything just makes him look like a moral corrupter to me Its a sign of increased partisanship. (That's true even though he's neither an establishment Republican nor a consistent conservative.) I think you see the same sort of thing from many Hillary supporters.
