The US is definitely not a true democracy, it is a "mirage of democracy", ..... a "fata morgana" and hallucination in the desert of political power and subversion.
People that do not have enough funds to advertise themselves no matter how qualified to lead a country they are, and they will be never elected. I do not know of any country with the so called "democracy" that can claim it is indeed a true democracy.
The fact that election ads are bought and not limited to equal time for all candidates already inserts a disadvantage to those candidates without the appropriate funds to buy time slots for advertising and explain their vision for the country, not to mention the "pu$$i talk that prevailed in this election campaign which has little to do with the economic, social or international and many other important policy issues that affect anyone.
I do not care if x or y groped somebody (true for both sexes) and the same affected person that was groped, did not file a criminal complaint within reasonable time, as it is all hearsay or actually she or he enjoyed it. We will never know and it is really not important at the job the elected official is trying to be elected to do, his actual qualification to be elected to office are of major importance and this can only be disseminated by the media for free, and if he is not fulfilling his promises he should be held accountable in the court of law and even convicted of wire fraud in an properly adjusted law outlined below.
TITLE 18 - CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE PART I - CRIMES CHAPTER 63 - MAIL FRAUD AND OTHER FRAUD OFFENSES § 1343. Fraud by wire, radio, or television Whoever, having devised or intending to devise any scheme or artifice to defraud, or for obtaining money or property by means of false or fraudulent pretenses, representations, or promises, transmits or causes to be transmitted by means of wire, radio, or television communication in interstate or foreign commerce, any writings, signs, signals, pictures, or sounds for the purpose of executing such scheme or artifice, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both. If the violation occurs in relation to, or involving any benefit authorized, transported, transmitted, transferred, disbursed, or paid in connection with, a presidentially declared major disaster or emergency (as those terms are defined in section 102 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 5122)), or affects a financial institution, such person shall be fined not more than $1,000,000 or imprisoned not more than 30 years, or both.
What is even more distorting democracy, in the US is the establishment of Super PAC, whose donors "pay to play" which means that only interested groups with enough money dictate the policy of the elected person who receives their money and all this has nothing to do with the vital interest of the citizens living within the boundaries of action of the elected person or as the US president
Therefore calling the US a "democratic state" is highly inaccurate, the rulers are elected by special interest groups on all levels; county, state, urban city, the Senate or Congress - most politicians transformed themselves into a professional politicians and have very little to do with the electorate that supposedly elected them.
The fact that one vote one person is practiced has little meaning as those with the money to spend on advertising, brainwash the electorate, and if not fulfilling its promises made during the election campaign the public figure or politician is not hold responsible and definitely not indicted under any laws.
Net result if I have unlimited monetary resources hire the proper speech writers promise the most issues the majority of the electorate wants to hear I can be elected to office and for 4 years not fulfill any of my promises and feverishly work on my own enrichment if during or after my term expires.
As to the electorate that elected me into office - who cares, they can get lost, as long as I can be enriched beyond the wildest dreams, as I have no legal responsibility to anyone based on the promises made during my election campaign and all I need to do is to plan my enrichment in such a way that it does not violates the criminal laws.
I can charge hundreds of thousands for a lecture of one hour or less, to discuss the interest of a big super PAC contributor with a foreign leader or any other commission, for his benefit, or have a diner gathering of $20,000 per plate, and pocket the money for "my foundation" where all my family is employed with exorbitant compensations and promoting causes and raise tons of $$$$ with a little trickle down of the funds to the actual causes, and continuing charging fortunes for my "appearances and speeches" and use my influence for so called "donations"
Bottom line this is not a democracy but a pure swindle and robbery within the limitations of the laws
Anyone can trust me that democracy will return to its own definition if the law above will be appropriately adjusted to contain also election statements and the practices of promising the the moon and the sun will quickly disappear and any elected official will work tirelessly to implement his promises if done directly or only inferred in his election speeches.
To date I am not sure anything like this ever happened. |
