If this were pre-nuclear times the Chinese would already be in pretty much continuous war.

That's because of the EXCESS of young males they've stockpiled because of the "one child" policy and the favoritism that male children have always had in developing nations.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese WANTED a War, but Only a conventional one. They may consider those artificial islands a precursor to that.

They seem to be intent on instigating things with their local rivals.

That's why the U.S. is real Problem for them.
