Civilization did not evolve giving away free-lunches. The method you outlined destroys initiative and incentive and soon no one remembers how to tie their shoes let alone hunt.

As a first generation of immigrant parents with nothing but a suitcase and inability to speak a word of English who came here in search of freedom and opportunity I totally agree. Nobody looked for handout or played the victim in the post WW2 boom. Most of us were poor not mainstream or upper class elites back then.. Today too many feel entitled, play the oppressed victim and are weak minded people from broken homes thanks to likes Koan. Not sure how much longer this can last as this country slides into the abyss far greater than just the financial crisis of 2008.... Can't say I agree with everything the GOP party line feeds me either but they are by far the lesser of two evils to me at this point. Trickle down a total scam as well feeding to record wealth disparity and growing debts at twice the growth in nominal GDP bringing us down yet another of multiple problems few willing to address.. Ironic all those on the dole and the elites are joined at the hip now going against working class Americans??? Socialism for those at the top and bottom while capitalism on steroids, globalization and technology for those that actually have to compete today?
