Comey announced that “based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July with respect to Secretary Clinton.” Last week, Director Comey reignited the email “controversy” by sending a letter to the House Republican witch-hunt committee which said that emails that “may” be pertinent to the investigation were found on the laptop of disgraced Congressman Anthony Weiner. Weiner’s laptop was being investigated for his illicit sexual correspondence with a fifteen-year-old girl. The emails were not to or from Clinton, and the move was widely lambasted as a partisan attempt to interfere with the election. Despite the baselessness of the claims, the right-wing echo machine seized on the new “revelations” as new evidence of Clinton’s alleged wrongdoing. This should finally put the issue to rest., and we can go back to focusing on the real threat to our republic – Donald Trump and his dangerous brand of populist racism. __________________
