John, thanks for your informative posts on this thread.
My immediate thought after reading the NDA press release was: why would Lidak have omitted the placebo numbers except to hide something bad? My fears have not changed. My guess is that no treatment is 8 days, Lidakol is 4 days, and placebo is 5 days. I always thought it was fishy how the placebo worked in the first Phase III - I never could understand the logic of their explanation why the placebo was active. My concern is that any cream + psychosomatic factors may work well.

On the other hand, Lidak said that they made sure the placebo didn't do anything before redoing the Phase III trials, and more importantly, I can't believe Katz would make all these public statements if they were lies. He would be risking his entire reputation - unfavorable research results are not career-ending (happens to everybody, no matter how brilliant), but deliberate dishonesty is. He would be finished.
