Trey: Bell Altantic initially doesn't have to worry about their T1 business, because they are starting in the consumer ADSL market first. When the price and timing it right they will offer it to the business customer.

Some posters want to give the impression that the RBOC's/GTE are sitting around not doing anything. GTE purchasing Quest's dark fiber and BBN are just ways to waste money. BA is deploying 1,000,000 DLC lines/year with a separate contract with DSC for upgrading the outside copper is another way to waste money. The RBOC's have been installing DLC systems WELL BEFORE ADSL came on the scene. For a 3 year depreciation period, it will cost the RBOC's $16.6 for the modem pair in the $600 range. Westell's ramp has started... initially with BC, a 4 year deal with Bell Atlantic and a 3 year deal with GTE CLEC, plus those other ~10 smaller contracts... until later.
