I'm in Columbus, Ohio. Been doing the 401K thing all my working life. Due to some career moves, I was able to roll my 401K out so I now self-direct my investing. The past six months have been treading water but I expect that to change in 1998. My biggest winner so far is a little comapny just around the corner ALNK. I bought in at $9, it is now around $27, was up to $33 or so. Suprised no one on SI follows it. I should start a thread! I also have a little cash "slush fund" that I trade. I am heavy into tech stocks. Made 20% on Friday in DGSD, but missed the real action earlier in the week. It's a real speculative play and I now have a stop loss under me to catch at least part of the gain so far. I am thinking of adding to my current CPQ because I know it will be a super long term hold. I see the recent decline as a gift to those of us who couldn' t get in months or years ago.
An old riend/neighbor from Cleveland went to work there about 5 years ago and has just done superb. Funny, I was asking him about how CPQ must have the most modern office computing systems, etc. He replied that they were so busy expanding and hiring they could not keep up with their own internal demand. His machine was a few generations old, but had a new one on request.
