You won nothing. People voted like they thought this was some contest between the liberals and the conservatives. But they don't even know what the conservative philosophy is. When they talk about reducing taxes, understand that that is code for getting rid of the social safety net. Most of the people that voted for these Republicans depend on the social safety net one way or the other and they're going to be shocked when it is gone.

Do you understand that?

Republicans have been trying for 40 years to get rid of the social safety net, social security, Medicare, etc. Most of the people that voted for the Republicans were the poor people in the South and Midwest and many uneducated with few marketable skills. They depend on the social safety net as much as anybody in this country. It is the intent of the Republicans to get rid of all that stuff.

They didn't know that was the intent. They thought they were rooting for a football team. What you think is going to happen when they start losing their medical care and their welfare and food stamps. We saw this happen in Kentucky and they were horrified. They didn't know that was going to happen. Even though the governor ran on it.

Then you add the chaos and unrest of changing everything, and the general unrest from so much poverty that is going to ensue.

That is what you won, you one nothing unless you are rich.
