Tobacco stocks. Thx for commentary. I also have gone through some of those cycles. Usually got scared out when the tobacco stocks dropped sharply because of my succumbing to the negative general opinion at the time (generics will take over, taxes will stop them, lawsuits are getting more frequent with larger sums being awarded, etc.) Eventually I realized if I were to be in these stocks, I'd have to stay in (not being adept or smart enough to get out before they fell.) For the past few years that's worked ok for me (maybe not for others though who might hold higher expectations). I have a package -- RAI, PM, MO, VGR; no BTI currently.

Going forward, who knows -- maybe these stocks will fall and stay down or out. I see "regular" people -i.e. people who are not "street people" - (I may not have the words to describe groups properly, sorry.) still smoking cigs -- it surprises me every time. And I'm aware that my social circle is limited -- not one of us smoke or will admit to smoking. New marijuana laws may change that - lol. - Lot of us are from that '60's generation. -g-
