The other reason is the ever increasing debris field and the fact it would be child's play to take out everything when small pieces of metal are traveling at 30,000mph. The Chinese made a huge mistake and added thousands of objects to the orbital debris field when they tested the concept of destroying space objects and took out one of their dead satellites.
