wouldn't it be better if eastern Canada used Canadian oil and natural gas instead of importing it? Wouldn't it would be better if Canada gained access to the world oil market instead of being a captive to our only buyer and now competitor, the USA?

For those who don't know, 50% of XL capacity is dedicated to US production south of the 49th parallel. Of the 50% XL capacity dedicated to Canadian production, half of that is booked by Imperial Oil, an Exxon subsidiary. XL doesn't really do much for Canada. Pipelines to Canadian east and west coasts are what is really needed.

Trudeau is against the Gateway pipeline to Kitimat, and I will watch to see if the decision on the Trans Mountain pipeline due Mid December 2016, is delayed until after Trump is sworn in and approves XL, as it would give Trudeau an opportunity to deny approving Trans Mountain.
