Keep in mind that Trump is basically a Democrat who once said, "If I ever run for President I'd run as a Republican because Republicans are so stupid." -- He actually said that.

A woman journalist he has known him for 25 years asked him who this person was on the campaign trail as she'd never heard him make such bigoted comments. He replied, "If I'm elected you and the New York Times are going to be very very proud of me, I'm going to be a very liberal President - but right now I have to do what I need to do to close the deal."

She told Charlie Rose, "My reaction was who is this person - I realized that I've never known him very well."

That's my sense as well. I literally have no idea who the real Donald Trump is at his core, but I know he's more than willing to lie to achieve his goal. I don't currently expect anything good but I wait to be impressed.

One thing I'm certain of - during their meeting Mitch McConnell went out of his way to make Donald Trump feel small and incapable. Trump is never going to forget that. At some point Trump is going to return the favor.

McConnell is well connected snake who's very proud of his power, and his Senate and the Congress have a lot of power and the ability to thwart Trump's goals they don't support.

We'll have to wait and see if they've seriously underestimated Trump or whether Trump is out of his depth. I don't know the answer, but we'll all know in time.
