<The Fed is out of bullets and Congressional Republicans are openly mocking Donald Trump.
Gold is now officially on the down escalator.>
Elroy, the Fed doesn't use bullets. That's the police, military and some other government departments. The Fed owns a printing press and helicopters. They also have a pixelation process because actually printing banknotes or even promissory notes or other pieces of paper is so last century. On their keyboards, they can push the 00000000000000000000000000000 key lots of times to get to trillions or quadrillions or whatever Zimbabwe is now up to.
The Fed can fit a LOT of 0s in a helicopter which they can then fly around spraying 0s hither and yon, by the bushel, megabyte or megapixel whatever the unit of measurement is that they use.
Regarding gold, it isn't actually kept on escalators. It's stashed in stacks in vaults for the most part. It just kind of sits there, doing nothing, going nowhere, being brought out to be drooled over and counted from time to time by fearful owners while paying for storage. Or to be reformed with tungsten in the middle which can double the number of "gold" bars without bothering to actually increase the amount of gold in the vault. I know "escalator" is just a figure of speech, but it implies a mechanical process of price decline which doesn't apply. Gold can as easily jump over the middle of the escalators to the up escalator without going all the way to the bottom of the escalator.
My guess is still down. I wouldn't be surprised to see $1000 an ounce.
My main point is that the fed is not out of bullets, 0s or pixels. Big Ben threatened helicopters at dawn - they remain fueled and ready to go nearly as fast as mirved ICBMs if Hillary and her coven of Harpy harridan hyenas had got hold of the launch mechanism. First they came for Libya and Gaddafi, then they came for Assad, and then they came for Putin. But things went kind of wrong along the way and Hillary's "good friend" Chris Stevens went home in a coffin. "We came, we saw, he died ... cackle cackle cackle". [No, not Chris Stevens. Gaddafi!! Though Chris did end up dead too]. Then Assad offered more resistance than expected and ISIS made Team USA look bad.
Backing ISIS against Assad and Asma [his charming and lovely wife] was not a good move, especially as Putin gallantly offered some support. And then Zbig's "Let's kick Russia out of Crimea" plot went belly up too with Crimea now part of Russia. Eastern Ukraine is demanding provincial autonomy and an airliner was shot out of the sky.
