I was a Bernie Bro and voted for him in our Democratic caucus. I did not like Hillary, but she would've brought stability regardless of what you think of her. There will be only scary chaos during the next four years. I will make a couple of other predictions, the stock market has risen for eight years, that will start a downward slide. The dollar will start to slide increasing the cost of imports, the deficit will balloon, foreign affairs will get scary and at some point I expect this to descend into a full-blown depression equal to 1929, only this time without the social safety net. That is what I see in my minds eye.
I believe I know what is going to happen and if you could see it through my eyes you would be horrified.
None of what the Trump supporters think is going to happen, will. He no more cares about the common man then the man in the moon. He will pay no attention to the needs of his voters, but will be on to a brand-new game as the most powerful man in the world. That will be the shiny object that he will be looking at.
Trump insiders said that he didn't even look at the policy and procedures manual that was given to him by his staff. He doesn't care at all about administering the government, or the duties he has assumed. He is strictly into the fame and power and he will use it the way a child uses a new toy.
You're going to be sadly disillusioned as you watch he and the Republicans destroy the social safety net that so many of your family and friends probably depend on. The first thing you will see is legislation that will give gigantic tax cuts to the very rich and a gigantic increase in defense spending, both of which will balloon the deficit. Both Reagan and Bush did that.
Then you will see them pass all sorts of legislation that will get rid of Obama care and Medicare and Social Security and turn them into the private sector. It is very difficult for anyone to know how to get good medical insurance on their own. Everyone I know that has Medicare loves it, and they are probably about to lose it.
They will also cut out all of the social safety net that they possibly can. Republicans have been chomping at the bit to get rid of as much of the public social services as they can and turn them over to the private sector. This will strengthen Washington and the plutocrats.
The rich have always owned Washington.
I was a social planner and politician of sorts for half my life. And I can tell you, for example, that when you go from public prisons to private prisons, you will incur the most horrible brutality. I hope you don't have family or friends that are on Obama care because of a pre-existing condition, or any of the other social safety net needs, because they are going to be curtailed or eliminated shortly. |
