BC: CAN"T WELL ALL JUST GET ALONG .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. RE: Two Americas concept .. I've been thinking some more about this topic .. The problem really is the size and scope of the Federal Government .. And a "States Rights" issue .. It's really instructive to look at the election maps on a county by county basis .. Even in the so called "navy blue" states .. It's just the handful of urban counties in all states that vote the democratic/liberal line .. ( I suppose that's because that's where most of the people are .. duh ) .. We have 51 states that all have a "copy" of the Federal system in place .. They all have .. - an executive branch - a legislative branch - a judicial branch The political infrastructure exists .. The problem is at the top .. Why must we have this continually ongoing national argument where we try a "one size fits all approach" and constantly lurch ( at great cost I might add ) from a Liberal majority to a Conservative majority and vice a versa ?? It makes no sense .. it doesn't work .. and it really pisses people off .. The Federal Government and it's policies need to be politically neutral .. Neither Liberal nor Conservative .. It would solve most of the problems .. And .. thru the Constitution .. the mechanism to change it peacefully .. also exists .. Trump's win is proof of this .. He's not a "true" republican nor a "true" conservative He's a "change" agent .. Most of his First 100 days Agenda is squarely aimed at reducing the size of the Federal bureaucracy I sincerely hope that he can pull it off .. We just need to give a NAME to this NEW political movement so that people ( both liberals and conservatives ) can support it's goals .. Why not something like the "New America Party" as a name and with some stated goals .. A much smaller and limited role for the Federal Government ( define it ) - National Defense/Military/Coast Guard - The Federal Reserve - FDA - National Park Service - Social Security - Critical Infrastructure .. electric/ports/rail/highways/FAA - Judicial ( Bill of Rights and Constitutional interpretation only ) - Foreign Service/Sate Department/Foreign Policy A much larger and expanded role for state and local Government ( define it ) - Health Care - Social Programs - Education - Judicial - Immigration - Commerce Return jurisdiction of all Federal lands to the individual states ( except for military sites ) Under a strong State's Rights program there really won't be a future need for the office of the President ( do we really even need a first family ?? ) If that's too radical then make the Presidency a " no power" "symbolic" position .. No more Electoral College .. Raw popular vote wins .. Cheaper campaigns .. Then we won't have such a huge emotional stake in who gets to reside at the WH .. The President's function would become largely ceremonial .. - Hosting foreign heads of state .. - Promoting American products and services .. - Playing lots of golf .. - Flying around the world on air Force One .. - Taking lots of vacations - Hosting winning sports teams - Pardoning the Thanksgiving Turkey - Holding White House Easter Egg hunts In other words doing what Obama has done for the last 8 years ..<gg> And Congresses' role should also be greatly curtailed and only make new laws in the narrow areas specifically carved out for Federal Jurisdiction .. No growing the size and power of the Federal Government going forward .. Every new Law or Regulation passed must have a built in sunset provision .. Most Executive and Legislative responsibility would reside at the STATE level Conservatives and Liberals alike will call the shots at the State and Local level where they are the majority .. Make whatever laws/rules/regulations that make you happy .. Like minded people will naturally relocate to those areas that best match their political and social points of view .. That way no one is trying to force their particular agenda on anyone else .. If you don't like what is going on then you have the option to change it at the LOCAL level or move somewhere else .. So, shall we roll up our sleeves and reorganize the Federal System as it currently exists ?? It might be worth a try .. I think there would be broad bi-partisan support for such an idea .. I have half a mind to create a web page and see where this can go .. NewAmericaParty.org Am I completely nuts or is there something here ?? Triff .. @Ctrl-Alt-Delete.com
