BC: REMEMBERING VETERAN'S DAY .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. He enlisted in the Army the day after Pearl Harbor as did tens of thousands of his fellow Americans He was an Army grunt for life He fought in WW2 and Korea He earned 3 Purple Hearts ( for getting shot ) 2 Bronze Stars ( for bravery under fire ) 2 Silver Stars ( for bravery under fire ) 1 Legion of Merit ( for saving his CO's life while wounded himself ) He never talked about it nor participated in Veteran's Day parades I once asked him if he had ever killed anyone .. His answer .. I hope not .. I think about and miss him every day .. Lt Col John H. Scanlon ( ret ) RIP
