It doesn't matter Kenneth. That's now how Presidents are elected.

Think about it. If the presidential race were based on the popular vote, each candidate would have run their campaign differently. Instead, they both concentrated their efforts on the high electoral count states and on the traditionally swing states.

Since a lot of people didn't vote at all, you have no way of knowing how it would have turned out if they had based their campaigns on popular vote. While I wouldn't favor it, if the country wants to base the presidential election on the popular vote, laws must be changed AND announce BEFORE the campaigns start. Not afterwards
