"Even if the assembly of an iPhone occurred in the U.S., many of the components necessary to manufacture an iPhone are produced in China or elsewhere in Asia, thus shipment into the U.S. would prove costly."

So, shipping a container full of iphone parts is most costly than a container full of iphones?

Since China is such a big customer for iPhones they will be building them there from now on.

But it is possible to get some of that business back with the right incentives. In particular, if you reduce the after-tax labor cost enough you can make that happen. And that is far better than giving people taxpayer dollars to live on.

Personally, if I were young and unemployed I'd be glad to take a job in exchange for a living of some kind, even if it meant living in a factory town.
