There were only two choices: Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. That was it.
The "third" popular choice was "no vote."

There are a lot of reasons for this we must come to understand. Voter suppression was strategic, and one could argue, nefarious. The GOP loses when voter turnout is highest and they are wise to it.

It turned out sadly that my own prediction, that the Republican strategy was to drag Hillary so low into a sewer that people would not vote at all, turned out to be true. In the end, even lefties were buying into the Clinton conspiracies many of which were debunked by dozens of investigations, including partisan ones like Ken Starr and Issa.

The meme was I don't like Trump but "you can't trust Hillary Clinton." There was a tactical anti-Hillary war on all fronts. I believe the filthy "opposition research" of the GOP would have done this to ANY democratic candidate including Biden or Sanders. They did it to Gore and Kerry. Obama survived the turds because the young voters and various minorities showed up. The now enlightened Priebus machine specifically targeted the "staus-quo" (including Obama) Democratic brand to those voters - not to vote.

They got constant female and minority surrogates (the few) to fog up Clinton's prime messages.
