Canadian Conservatives respect and support Trump in about the same manner and degree as American Conservatives do. Likewise, for Liberals and Democrats. The polls show this. But more importantly, a simple conversation with Conservatives demonstrates this fact.
Yes, Canada is full of brain-washed people who get their self esteem and their meaning from mindlessly embracing the "all people are one" bleeding heart syndrome. But this is no different than our neighbours to the south.
The differences in our countries are in size and power which definitely creates different roles. But the real difference is that some of my family and yours got off the ship in New York and went west...and some of my family and yours got off the ship in New York and went to Ontario and spread west from there.
Our Germans, Jews, Irish, Mennonites, English, Ukrainians, etc. are much like ours!
Our laws and our Constitutions are very similar. We share a common problem with the racial integration of "Indian populations"--but we have not suffered from the cultural and social problems associated with the clash of Blacks with the larger culture. During and after 1812, Canada became a safe haven for Blacks and have fared better with this population than have large urban American centers. And of course, not sharing a border with Mexico is a matter of good luck for us.
Yes, we have a divide between Quebec (most French) and the rest of Canada, but we continue to live with compromise. Interestingly, there are very few French pockets outside of Quebec and some of New Brunswick--but Constitutionally French is one of our two official languages.
Our west coast is becoming Asian but that is another story for another time.
We deal with most problems by government assistance. This policy of conciliation has prevented large-scale uprisings from Natives and other groups. Leave your bitterness and your rifles at home. Have some food stamps instead...
