Even though I only agree partially with what you posted, I like your post better than the posts that only listed out a long list of references from some experts. You have presented your thought in a logical manner and with good reasoning.

I will post why I think, the Y2K problem in embedded systems if they exist, can only be fixed in house or by the designers of the systems.
