Pascal is shinning well in DX 11. Not so much in DX 12. Pascal is out performing in TDP, but it lacks Synchronous Compute, which Polaris has. Synchronous Compute is probably why Google chose Polaris.

I have seen statements of bloggers that think SC takes some of the load from the CPU, more that you can run a weaker CPU and still get the performance that a top of the line CPU would provide in the same circumstances with Pascal, eg: Pascal performs well with a strong CPU which makes up for the lack of SC. That makes Pascal look better than it is, particularly in TDP. IMHO
