Sorry, I have mistated the contract announcements by other Y2K vendors. It's true that a lot of Y2K companies announce contracts without the dollar amount but the contracts with those legitimate firms are awarded contracts, meaning they are now paid to do the work. When a company announces a pilot project, it doesn't mean anything. XYZ company just tells ABC company to give a free assessment and the contract MAY or MAY NOT be awarded. When I work for large Fortune 500 companies, there are always all kind of offer for free work from vendors, and since the engineers always like to look at new toys, they invite them in to give free presentations and loan out equipment. But it takes a long time before a contract is awarded and may be 1 out of 50 companies that offer pilot project gets awarded with a contract.
