11/18/16 Contest update
As the week came to a close, the Trump Golden Pill Dispenser began to look a little less full to biotech investors. And biotech stock indexes wound up minimally changed after the five days of trading.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -21.00% YTD (vs. down -21.96% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -15.87% YTD (vs. down -14.92% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -6.15% YTD (vs. down -5.69% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 6.27% YTD (vs. up 4.59% YTD a week ago).
JBOG’s portfolio, up 33.23% YTD, continued as Contest leader, with DNAJOE’s portfolio, up 32.25% YTD, close behind in second place and STEVEL’s portfolio, up 20.67% YTD, holding on to third place.
At Friday’s close, 8 of the 58 Contest portfolios were still in the green, with 23 portfolios beating the NBI and 11 beating the SPSIBI. The 223 Contest stock picks had an average YTD loss of -13.86% and a median YTD loss of -26.39%, with 61 of the 223 Contest portfolio stocks up for the year.
