The point is not that you can append files; the point is that that 640 megabytes acts precisely like a read/write media until such times as you have exhausted the entire disk. That's an important concept considering you can buy them for less that $2 per disk, don't you think? Nobody would seriously consider storing valuable data on zip-disks for extended periods of time.
