Barb,
I have accounts with E-Trade and Datek and a non internet broker. The only problem I have had with Datek is the order must be placed on an uptic and if I submit an order and the tic changes before its filled they kick it back. I have never had a problem shorting with e-trade finding shares and I can queue the order to be filled on the next uptic. I don't know if its the size of the account or the size of the orders that matter. I wrote to Datek and asked them about an order queue and they said they would consider it for the future but don't have any plans to change it now. The computer system would have to be upgraded to handle it. My holding in AVNT are split between the two brokers because I couldn't get an uptic with datek and e-trade fillled the orders. I have eight orders filled so far. Do you know a technique for entering an order at datek on a downtic?
