Trump's "expensive programs" will be a lot less costly when Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell kills them before arrival in a series of legislative abortions. Trump is trying to buy support by filling his administration with various denizens of the Washington DC swamp he claims to be draining. But this compromise in his message is very unlikely to buy him any legislative support. If Reagan had spent his election campaign calling the Republican elite pathetic losers and lying cheats, then went on to achieve legislative bonhomie - well that would give us a decent comparison.
