We had an old neighbour here come back for a visit after twenty-six years, he's from the Val de Loire, ended up in the Massif Central when he went back, interesting and well-spoken fellow, has many stories from life experience, tends to be involved in local politics especially in re land use decisions, his main business being land development and speculation ... highly political on every level, actually, and i could probably find him quoted with a search engine if my french was good enough
He likes Farage, a lot ... he's not anti-german, or anti-greek, or anti-spanish, he just thinks the whole euro setup as currently constituted a dead loser, that a single currency for the entire continent can never work, the national cultures are far too distinct and enduring ... thinks the common market a good thing, but fiscal unity a goal that leads to disaster ... has long list of absurdities out of Brussels ... worked on improving his dutch because he says there are flemish who do great writeups on all that, and you lose a certain edge in translation ... he does tend to be a bit intense, so i discount a fraction, 'exaggeration for emphasis' sort of thing, still as he points out, there are a lot of people with similar views, in every corner of Europe
If/when the euro folds, you don't want to be deep into margin on anything ... absolutely anything - it would give a whole new dimension to the term 'volatility' |
