The TPP was designed in secret by a group representing investment and corporate interests with no transparancy. It's almost certain to be bad for small businesses. For starters, that should ring alarm bells for everyone. It is a super-ordinate regulatory pact making American Industry subject to control by laws not approved of by the American people. Corporations outside the US can sue the American tax payer if they feel our regulatory agencies (like FDA) are restricting their sales inside the US. It makes it more likely that US Companies will leave the US to find lower wage workers. It happened with NAFTA and it is the same kind of deal only more global. The TTP organization can sue us if it determines US laws are inhibiting their ability to meet the profit expectations of foreign interests. I see very little advantage coming from this for the USA. China would not be held down by any of these regs since as you pointed out they are not bound by them.

Under the current situation we could say, "Hey, those jobs are gone and they are not coming back." Which is really at the core of this thing. Trump claims we will see corporations and jobs coming back to the USA under his administration. I'll believe it when I see it, but if that is true, it makes complete sense to get out of this thing.
