I was going to college in the early 1960s in the San Francisco Bay area. When I saw the counterculture movement, the hippie movement, come along, I immediately joined it. It is important to note, that most people's impression of the hippie movement is dead wrong. They were not a bunch of dirty lazy stupid people. They were the best and the brightest in the country as evidenced by the fact that UC Berkeley was the headquarters. Those kids were the strongest kids to ever live with regard to self-actualization.

The thesis of the 1960s, that virtually no one understands, is that it was the first existential movement in the history of mankind. So in that sense, it was as important as the Industrial Revolution.

One of the greatest things about that time., Besides the new awareness that every person had a right to manifest their destiny, and commitment to humanity, was the creative explosion. Some truly great music came out of the 60s. Pink Floyd and the doors and Led Zeppelin are still listened to by today's kids.

Two of the best albums that most of us owned were by Leonard Cohen, Canada's Bob Dylan and Richie Havens album," Mixed Bag". Both in my opinion, pretty much perfect albums. I posted them below. They are worth a listen.
