Update re my Malwarebytes possible problem report:

This was not a problem with Malwarebytes nor Win 10 updates.

I had the same failure when I tried to start my Tax Software.

Uninstalling then re-installing it has resolved the problem.
I've been unable to find any disk problems using chkdsk.

As I haven't used or started my Tax software since last April, I'm at a loss to understand what happened.

No viruses or malware have been found on this PC running MSSE (win 7); Panda (win 10) spybot S&D, malwarebytes.,

Malwarebytes found 2 PUPS when I first ran it.

So I'm guessing it was a one time anomaly related to hardware or environment.

I have TrueImage 2013 (WDC hard drive installed) but never discovered how to make an image using it.

I'm reluctant to install Chinese software especially after the Lenovo story.

Any thoughts on how to get a good image would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ian
