Split the spread. The order just has to fill above the last inside bid on Nasdaq. If the bid/ask is 11 1/2 x 3/4, you can enter an order for 11 23/32, and you'd show up on level II as the ask. ISLD would be you're mm symbol. The only problem with this is that an mm could immediately undercut you, going to 11 11/16 if he chose. But if he just matches you'd be first in line. If you wanted to be sure, you could enter as low as 11 17/32 as your limit price. But for a few hundred, or even a few thousand shares just become the ask.
