Out-of-Touch Dems Re-elect Pelosi Trump admin relieved that Dems remain in disarray

House Democrats have re-elected Nancy Pelosi as their leader in yet another example of how out-of-touch the failing party has become.
The 74-year-old California lawmaker, leader of the party since 2002, fended off dark horse challenger Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan on Wednesday.
The ballot vote was 134-63, signaling that there is a large degree of discontent and disunity within the party.
“We’re going to win as Democrats if we have an economic message that resonates in every part of the country,” Ryan told reporters after his defeat. “We are disappointed because I like to win…But the party is better off.”Under Obama and Pelosi’s leadership, Democrats have lost over 900 state legislature seats, 12 governorships, 69 House seats, and 13 Senate seats. These facts were not lost on sobered Democrats who wanted new leadership.“I believe we must do more than simply paper over the cracks,” said Rep. Ruben Gallego of Arizona, one of a handful of House Democrats to endorse Ryan. “We can’t just say the right things – we must take concrete steps to move our party in the right direction.”Pelosi’s re-election as the Democrat leader was welcome news not just to her delusional supporters – but also to Republicans.“What a relief,” tweeted Trump aide Kellyanne Conway. “I was worried they had learned from the elections & might be competitive and cohesive again.”Pelosi’s 14-year leadership of the caucus has been so disastrous for Democrats that even the House Republicans endorsed her, knowing she’ll be unable to stop Trump’s agenda backed by the Republican majority in Congress.“Nancy Pelosi has been a true friend to the House Republicans, helping us achieve the largest majority since the 1920s,” said NRCC Communications Director Katie Martin on Tuesday. “We sincerely hope House Democrats vote to elect Nancy Pelosi as minority leader, where we have no doubt she will lead them deeper into the political wilderness and ensure a Republican majority for years to come.” |
