I find statements like that sort of amazing. You say government just squanders our money. I never found that to be true in my 20 years of working for our state government. I found people working very hard to help the society.

Taxes are the cost of civilization. People have never lived in all of history as well as they are living now. Never, read some history. You will find no time in history anywhere, that people even remotely lived as well as they are now.

And it is because of our Democratic welfare system of social services. And to make the point even more credible, look at the country's that are doing the best. The Nordic countries. Canada, New Zealnad,Australia. Everybody knows those countries are doing best in the world and they have the highest taxes per person and the largest governments per person.

It takes a large government, to make sure everyone is okay, to have law and order, to make sure people obey the rules and regulations, have police, fire and emts, pay their taxes and don't cheat people.

That is what has made living today better than any time in history. Our Democratic governments, all the way from school board, to city Council, to state legislatures and federal Congress work to make life better for people and to administer society.

I would suggest you give the subject a little more thought and open yourself to the possibility government might actually be doing some good and protecting you and yours along with it.

No government leads to Lord of the Flies.

We just take things for granted like public schools police, fire, building codes, an emergency medical services system and 911 and paramedics and EMTs who can stabilize people at the scene and ambulances that can get them to a hospital quickly.

But I lived in a time when much of that wasn't so true or sophisticated and it wasn't very long ago. And now living without those systems is inconceivable.

And look at the countries that are struggling. They are usually countries with low taxes, small government, many uneducated, and lots of corruption.

From my viewpoint it is the Government's responsibility to collect as much revenue from it's citizens as they possibly can.
On the other hand it is my dedicated responsibility to legally use every loop hole to the fullest extent. In order to remit as little as possible. I would much rather squander what I have worked for myself. Instead of forwarding it to be squandered by some bureaucrat trying to get re-elected.
