The difference in total return is staggering in AMAT's favor. But yes, in terms of volatility, a lot of profit can be made on KLIC's sharper peaks.

Really, it's KLIC's corresponding sharper valleys that hold it back from ranking up top with AMAT. KLIC's actual upside is probably just as good or better. But then you get into that timing thing that I'm so bad at executing correctly.
