I don't mind keeping the programs but they should be privatized. If SS had been partially privatized in 2006 when Bush wanted to do it the program would be far better off today than it would ever be in government hands. Bush only wanted 8% privatization to begin with and the difference it would have made is big. I haven't figured it out but there is little doubt it would have radically altered the situation.

What you don't understand is that government simply cannot be trusted with anything important unless there is no possible alternative.
